I am driving back home after shopping in my new suburban neighborhood. I spot a Dunkin’ Donuts. I had a long day and could definitely use some coffee. What do I do? I think for a second and then cut across three lanes at 50 mph to get to DD on the far right to try their Ice Coffee with milk and sugar that my wife raved about. Luckily there isn’t much traffic. I make it just enough to get to the entrance of the parking lot- barely. Yes, most stores in suburbs have parking lot. That is a luxury coming from New York.
As I get out of my car, a young lady from the store rushes to the door to inform me that they are closed now. What time is it? I check my watch. 4 pm. You got to be kidding me. Dunkin’ Donuts on a busy US Highway is closed at 4 pm. Wow! Where am I?
Why would they close at 4 pm is beyond me. It is not like London where the whole city shuts down after 7 pm.
I had enough adrenaline rush cutting through traffic and getting to the store that I don’t need the caffeine. I convinced myself as I left.
Update: I later found this store open beyond 4 pm. Not sure what was special that day. Just my luck, I guess.
